The Channel Managing Agency Limited (“we”, “us” or “our”) are a data controller and therefore we are responsible for, and control the processing of, your “personal data” in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation and Data Protection Act 2018 (“GDPR”/ “the Act”). “Personal data” means any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural (living) person.

The information we collect

When you visit our website, make an enquiry or register with us we collect some basic information such as your, name, contact details, IP address and internet service provider's domain name, which pages you accessed on our site, and when.

For the purpose of offering and/ or placing contracts of insurance and/ or processing claims under a policy of insurance. The information we collect includes:

  • your personal details (name, gender, marital status, date of birth, nationality);
  • contact details (address, email, phone number);
  • employment details (employer, job title, employment history)
  • risk details to enable us to assess your risk and provide a quote;
  • policy information including quotes you receive and policies you have previously taken out;
  • identification numbers (national insurance number, passport number, drivers license)
  • financial details (bank account, payment card, income, assets owned)
  • the quotes you receive and the policies you purchase
  • credit and anti-fraud data (credit history, credit score, anti-fraud databases)
  • details of previous and current claims (including other unrelated insurances)

Dependent on the type of insurance, we may also need to obtain special category data from you in order to assess the risk to be insured for example, details of your health when purchasing a health insurance or critical illness policy or making a claim following an accident.

If you give us information on behalf of a third party, you confirm that the third party has appointed you to act on his/her/their behalf and has agreed that you can:

  • give consent on his/her/their behalf to the processing of his/her/their Information (if applicable);
  • receive on his/her/their behalf any data protection notices; and
  • give consent to the transfer of his/her/their Information abroad (if applicable).

This processing is necessary for the performance of a contract of insurance between us and information is processed to enable us to provide services to our users.

Outside of such, and where a claim becomes litigated this processing may be necessary to comply with our legal obligations.
